Conception - Catamarca (09+10/02/2011) | 82 + 75 km parcourus |
Wait and see !
Conception - Catamarca (02/09+10/2011) | 82 + 75 km cycled |
About 160kms separate us from Catamarca (the capital of the province of Catamarca), that we make in 2 days. We first wanted to make this part via a deviation on dirt-road in the mountains, but as it seems cloudy/rainy up-there we stay on the main-road (which is more or less flat, with cultivated fields).
It's raining in the mountains, so we stay down-here |
After having left Conception the main-road is very busy (=a lot of traffic), which becomes better after 40 kms.
On the busy part I saw an accident with a dog (just in front of me (100m) : the dog crossing the road got hit by a (fast) pickup... :-( The dog wasn't dead, but severely injured and he rolled (like mad) on the road (=almost getting hit by other fast (horn-blaring) cars...) Finally he reached the grass-side, where he could (probably) die... :-( After the nice evening spent with the 20 dogs yesterday, I had though a lot of this dog that day and the next days after.
The first evening we found a nice camping-place, next to a river, and horses grazing a little further.
There Enzo's Thermarest (=self-inflating sleeping-matress) seems to have had his best time (=probably due to the rain/humidity in Tafi del Valle). It's not a very good timing, as Argenina is the country where we make the most camping, and there is still more than 1,5month to go...
We also passed the 5000kms that day. (=I don't know if this time we will reach the 8000 (like 3 years ago), as we took lots (and long) pauses, and this time we seem to be less disciplined (=getting up and starting to cycle late)).
The next day starts with a 13kms climb, which seemed a little difficult to me (=I paused 3 times...), and then a downhill that brings us to a village, where we hope to eat (as we're out of food and out of money), but there is no money-distributor... =which means we have to reach Catamarca today (=still 52kms and it is already 2 pm), but (with a favorable tail-wind), we arrived early.
